New Hampshire native Julian Gooden aka “Viperactive” has had a slew of releases this past year and continues to push out a sound that represents exactly where this newcomer bass artist is heading. With releases on Firepower Records and self-releases on his Soundcloud, Viperactive is an artist that you’ll end up adding to your upcoming playlists that encapsulates dark grimey bass undertones that fit well in any tenebrous environment whether a club or a festival.
His latest release “Thrill” with Ōdio Records shows a more clear side of himself leaning towards cinematic qualities and hybrid sounds stemming from different tastes and overall bass sounds from throughout the years in the electronic dance world. You get a sense of being in a Resident Evil game about to enter a boss battle, which I personally love; being an old gamer myself and just imagining what it would feel like as your background music while you’re trying to conquer and advance yourself to the next level of a video games’ storyline.
What I really enjoyed about this track is the hybrid qualities of two sounds into one, one being the cinematic dubstep bass and the nu-psytrance bass lines to take the energy one step further. This is definitely a track that you’ll want to add to your upcoming playlists in time for New Year’s Eve.
I foresee Viperactive making headway very soon with a lot to look forward to in 2020 and a plethora of new music perfect to fit the next decade of music.
